LOL

October 13, 2008 Leave a comment

During the sleepover, Tasha and I found out that Amni uses “LOL” when speaking as well.

Quite funny, really.

Somewhat started a discussion about LOLs.

Tasha said that before, she thought it meant lots of laughter.

Me, I just asked the first person who used it. I don’t think wikipedia existed then; if not I would have just wiki-ed it, as I usually do now.

Nonetheless, I did thought about what it could mean other than “laughing out loud”, as I didn’t think it made much sense.

I mean, you do use “hahaha” and “hehehe” and “hohoho” and whatever other variations of laughter, right?

Does it mean, when a person uses LOL, they are not laughing out loud when they type “hahaha”? Just, type it out out of politeness?

I don’t know about others, but usually when I type LOL, it’s because I am laughing so hard I can’t type that many “ha”s; it’s just faster to type lol and continue laughing.

Slowly, I thought, laughing out loud is a more suitable meaning of lol. And Tasha thought about it as well, even before we had this conversation.

And really, is it so hard to type “ha” repetitively?

Or is it just something you sarcastically type when you think someone is just trying to hard to make you laugh. Added with a cynical sneer?

Oh damn!!!

I’m not the first person who came up with the term “closeted feminist”!!!!!

Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn!!!

DAMN IT!!!!!!!

Oh, was watching Ally McBeal; Episode Playing the Field from Season One. Not sure episode number what. Richard Fish stated that he is a closeted feminist.

Urgh.

I was calling one of my tutors that. And my seminar mates laughed at me.

How dare they!!

He is!!!

Any books that you would recommend?

October 13, 2008 5 comments

Edit: This used to be a sticky post; I just feel like putting it back where it belongs…

Warning: This is a sticky post, where it would always be on the first entry until I am satisfied with the responses. I do update my blog quite often; just scroll lower and you will see the typical me time of blabbing. Hahaha :P

I do wonder how many would respond to this request, what with having so few repeat visitors.

Ignoring the fact that I now have a budget for my monthly spendings on books, I would like to know if there’s any books that any of you would recommend.

Maybe I’m bored with the choices I’ve made, I don’t know.

Nonetheless, I’m still reading them.

Just… Oh, I don’t know…

Oh well…

Thank you, Sangee and Cycads for the recommendations. Would definitely look up for them ;)

Tasha; I’m not a fan of Murakami. Norwegian Wood bothered me more than Breaking Dawn did. Hard for me to explain why; so I’m avoiding him. And Hornby’s High Fidelity is already on my list. Just can’t find a copy of it. Thanks for your recommendation nonetheless. :D
