Pro-choice vs pro-life

November 11, 2008 Leave a comment Go to comments

Just like all pro-lifers, I got a comment on my Roe v Wade post stating that I am celebrating the fact that more babies will die.

Typical of them to interpret it that way; pro-choice supporters are pro-death supporters. So typical of them to over-simplify such complicate matters.

Just because we don’t support what you believe in doesn’t mean we support the absolute opposite of it.

I believe babies would be better of not coming to the world than suffering because of their parents were stupid enough to indulge in pre-marital sex or indulge in sex when they can ill afford to bring up the kids.

Also, the reason I support Roe v Wade and being a pro-choice supporter is, because above everything else, I absolutely hate people shoving their moral values down other people’s throat when they don’t know what the other person is going through.

Which is why I absolutely can’t stand Catholicism believes; accepting the Pope’s word as if they are words of God, when in fact, he’s just human. Like asking the opinion of the secretary instead of the actual boss.

Kinda stupid to allow a celibate man to decide on contraceptives and life of a child that he would never be part of.

Go on and be stuck up with your morality codes; I’m sure I can’t change your views on it since you would be too daft for it.

I am going to stick to mine; because I have studied the cases and know what people have gone through. I have studied anti-abortion law in Northern Ireland and privacy law in the United States. And I have made my decision based on what I’ve studied; and it’s a whole lot of stuff to learn for those even though those constituted only two seminars.

In my opinion, pro-lifers are selfish; they can’t see that sometimes sacrificing would be better than giving in; accepting the fact.

Oh, if you’re going to bring in how Sarah Palin still gave birth to her Down syndrome child; well good for her. She exercised her right to choose to give birth to her child after all. And not everyone would be privileged enough to be able to bring up a disabled child. So it is better for the child to suffer in the world than not being born?

The choice should be left to the couple in question; not the legislative branch of any government, or any judge or politician. It’s just absolutely ridiculous to make such sweeping statements on every child conceived and their parents.

And the irony; Republicans believing in the sacred life of fetuses (somehow reminds me the absolutely lame reason of Precious Life complaining how the word “baby” wasn’t use in the DHSSPS Guideline on the Termination of Pregnancy in Northern Ireland) but not the life of the Iraqis and those other nationals of the country they attack, the life of the Palestinians that the Israelis kill and what not.

Double standards, huh? Just for babies because they’re supposedly innocent.

Weird… doesn’t  Christianity believe that people are born sinners? Why not just kill the sinners before they become even bigger sinners then? Then less sinners would be around in this world.

“Weird… doesn’t Christianity believe that people are born sinners? Why not just kill the sinners before they become even bigger sinners then? Then less sinners would be around in this world.”

Christians also believe people are made in the image of God, though that got taken away by the falll, and because people are made that way, God opposes murder. It is in one of the commandments that they shall not commit murder.

Christians don’t pick and choose what to believe or not to believe. Yes, the Bible teaches original sin. But it also teaches a whole lot of other things, too, such as thou shall not murder. Or that God wants people to be redeemed out of His love.

Your argument amounts to saying Christians should become the biggest sinners in the world to elimiate sinners. Who is the one really being weird here?

“In my opinion, pro-lifers are selfish; they can’t see that sometimes sacrificing would be better than giving in; accepting the fact.”

Easier for you to say when you are not the one on the receiving end of being murdered, oh, I mean, abortion.

And it is funny you accuse pro-lifers of being selfish when you say things like “I believe babies would be better of not coming to the world than suffering because of their parents were stupid enough to indulge in pre-marital sex or indulge in sex when they can ill afford to bring up the kids.”

The utmost of arrogance is to presume others would rather not live than go through life struggling. Or in other words, saying the whole lot of them, who are defenseless, are better off dead, and so advocate murdering them. That is cruel, inhumane, barbaric.

By your logic, it would be ok to murder infants once they are born, not just before they are born, since after alll, according to your logic, it is act of “love” to prevent them from suffering.

How do those who make that choice to get rid of their infant in the womb know the infant will grow up to suffer? It is basically saying the child should die because of the “mistake” of the parents. The parents are being selfish to kill their own kid to get rid of their little inconvenience. There is no love to killing a child. None, whatsoever. It takes a whole lot of hate to do so.

“Oh, if you’re going to bring in how Sarah Palin still gave birth to her Down syndrome child; well good for her. She exercised her right to choose to give birth to her child after all. And not everyone would be privileged enough to be able to bring up a disabled child. So it is better for the child to suffer in the world than not being born?”

Not a whole lot of different from the attitude of slaveowners who say that slaves are better off being enslaved rather than be free and live in a nation where they can’t do anything anyways. It is basically making another human property. Slavery makes the person property disposing pf the person’s right to liberty. Abortion makes the person property of the person’s right to life.

All of us struggle in life. To say the person is better off dead rather than live a life struggling and suffering is an INSULT to every single human being who ever has to struggle and suffer and make it through.

“And the irony; Republicans believing in the sacred life of fetuses (somehow reminds me the absolutely lame reason of Precious Life complaining how the word “baby” wasn’t use in the DHSSPS Guideline on the Termination of Pregnancy in Northern Ireland) but not the life of the Iraqis and those other nationals of the country they attack, the life of the Palestinians that the Israelis kill and what not.”

First off, in the struggle between Israelis and Palestinians, Palestinians are hardly innocent. Suicide bombings show the lack of willingness for peaceful co-existence with Israel.

Secondly, many pro-lifers opposed the war with Iraq. Myself included. But there is a distinction. American and Iraqi soldiers fighting each other have a choice to fight and die in conflict. Babies don’t have that choice.
